Who are Inner Voices?
Well, they
- bagged 4 Boh Camronian Arts Award's last year for their feature concert "Let's Go Mamak!" at the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Center (KLPAC) for starters :)
- are all about "Unity Through Music" because it is through the appreciation of the performing arts centered around our Malaysian culture and its multi-ethnic group musicians that we can further educate and create more of an awareness of how we live in harmony as a community.
What is this about?
The title says it all - a mixture of every ethnic culture Malaysia has to offer.
In musical metaphors this IS the concept of muhibah often displayed at a 'mamak' stall!!
The music?
6 ethnic musicians and 6 contemporary musicians contribute to the richness of this truly Malaysian concept put together by composer/music director, Ken Hor.
Ken along side co-music director/saxophonist Julian Chan will once again lead the 12 culturally diverse musicians in exploring the 'flavour of contemporary ethnic Malaysian music'.
The style?
The fusing of traditional tunes framed to fit in to western and contemporary music genres such as jazz, pop, and world music! Wow. A mouthful, to be sure!
In the spirit of "muhibah-ness", this concert offers a bit of everything to everyone. Literally. A lil' bit for everyone in the audience.
How so?
Imagine a conversation between a Malay, a Chinese, an Indian and a Mat Salleh taking place on percussion; or a nostalgic Malaysian folk song played on Western instruments.

Come and experience the elements of traditional Malaysian music with the richness of our country's main ethnic group.
